The Bus is for You

Overview

Produced with Leicester based agency Creative 62 and with photographer Pete Martin, ‘The Bus is for You’ is part of a campaign commissioned by West Northamptonshire Council to promote bus travel within the region.

The concept was to focus on two seats on the bus and see the different people and stories it would tell as it was occupied throughout the course of a day. As buses are generally fairly tight on space we spent some time trying out a stabilised rig beforehand that could mount on the existing metalwork within the bus. We also used the same metalwork to mount an over LED light over our focus area, colour matched to the existing lighting.

An early start at the depot to catch the buses departing for the day, as well as some shots of our driver waking the bus and the rest of the day was spent with staggered starts with our actors and volunteers to be our passengers.

We took each set of passengers out on a 30-40 run each time with different areas to cover with each run as the day progressed into the evening, making the most of those were able to spend more time during the day with costume changes to act as additional passengers just out of shot.

We finished with a few different versions of the video with various runtimes, but what is shown here is our personal favourite.
